finally I am going to finish the story I left off in November

oh where to start so much has happened

let's see, I left New Mexico 

and got home for Thanksgiving

we had a great day with our family

putting on hats after dinner for the christmas card photo we would never use

of course I did not know that......then

somewhere right after Thanksgiving I made a hard left

at normal

and my life headed out toward crazy.......

as I was surprised, blindsided actually

by divorce papers the next day

the day after Thanksgiving

I think you noticed - I went back to New Mexico

after the new year

the only thing that got me through was a plan

a plan to go out and find a property 

that was livable

loveable

I saw an ad for a 10 acre farm/ranch just up the road

from the little (not livable yet) house I already owned

and it seemed just what I was looking for

you see where this is going

but first I had to fly out in the middle of winter

once there I felt compelled to look at what was available for sale

in the area I was interested in:

Ojo Caliente, Abiquiu and El Rito

they make a triangle with each other, all about 15 miles apart...

I looked at the farm in Ojo first - it had attracted me

but there was also a property in Abiquiu

4 acres in the desert with several small buildings around

a pleasant courtyard with a great view to the south

it would make a great retreat but not a home

it had no source of water - not a good thing in the desert

this one in El Rito looked perfect too

 this was the view on the road driving from the National Forest almost to El Rito

saw this old adobe, nice big yard not in too bad a shape and what a view

then I saw a small hand painted for sale sign and a number

I made a plan to see it

wow I thought when she said it came with 3 acres on the El Rito Creek!

the inside was so bad I could not even stay in it

way too much work, way too much

then this one on the main street in El Rito 

 it's a steal

everything was perfect...

too perfect for me actually

I need a little funk and something I can evolve

 the farm looked better and better

the more I hung out there

that was the one and I made an offer on

the day I left to come back to Florida

I dropped some things off at my little house 

and then went up to the farm, one last time

I wrote the date in the snow outside for good luck

get this - 

weeks later I found out this was the day the judge granted the divorce.....
