we had a great celebration this year with friends

and have a very happy New Year's eve

the night that everyone on the planet can celebrate

(it is my parent's 68th wedding anniversary

and my grandson's 8th birthday - a very special

day for me indeed)

finally - the TREE
and October things of interest

the trees in Florida don't snap off like they do out west

the ground gets so soaked they just fall over - root wad and all

our yard is on the other side of that fence

this is what it looked like from the yard to the side of us

the tree just missed the garage

something to be thankful for

this was the top of the tree just at the edge of the patio

in the front of the garage

this is the view from the yard

it was a massive amount of material for the small yard

it was a sucker tree that had grown on a large pine

we always knew it could be trouble

it was a voracious grower and it had already killed most of the pine

it had shaded that entire corner of the yard

this was the damage when the tree was removed

(several hours and several guys with chainsaws later...)

as it was the neighbor's tree - they let us

put it out on the street in front of their house for FEMA to pick up

Willi fixed the fence

and while it does look kind of bare

(killing all the plants as the fallen tree sat on them for a month or

breaking them off in the fall)

it opened it up in a good way
this is an old before pic of how dense and dark that corner had gotten

I asked the neighbors if they heard it go down
and they said the storm was so loud you couldn't hear anything
